About ESO

ESO directs its work towards economic and fiscal challenges. The work is directed by Chairman Karolina Ekholm. The other members of the board represent different disciplines within the field of social sciences and public administration. Adjunct to the board are also three experts. They take part in board meetings but do not have the right to vote on the board’s decisions.

The board is responsible for ESO’s activities and directs its work. This means that the board prioritises between study areas, decides which studies will be conducted and which will be published in ESO’s publication series.
The secretariat is responsible for the day-to-day work. It includes a head of office, an assistant and secretaries. The secretariat is engaged in enrolling authors as well as in the writing process. The secretariat is also part of the process of suggesting areas to study and setting up project plans.
